IMECE 2016 to Host a Variety of Special Events IMECE 2016 to Host a Variety of Special Events IMECE 2016 to Host a Variety of Special EventsNov. 4, 2016 The ASME 2016 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE 2016) in Phoenix, Ariz., the worlds largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference, begins in just one week. The conference, which will be held from Nov. 11 to 17 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will feature mora than 450 technical sessions, more than 20 technical tracks, and a number of prominent speakers representing the full scope of the engineering profession.One of the many special darbietungs scheduled to take place during IMECE 2016 is the Keynote Event on Monday, Nov. 14, which will be presented by David Sandalow, the Inaugural Fellow at the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy. This special keynote session, titled How Technological Advances Are Altering Companies Engineering-Skill Set Needs, will take place from 830 a.m. to 1000 a.m. at North Ballroom C and D of the convention center. A free continental breakfast will be served to all attendees prior to the keynote from 800 a.m. to 830 a.m. David SandalowIMECE 2016 will also feature three Conference-Wide Plenary Sessions. Jeffrey B. Lowinger, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Industrial Eaton Corp., will speak at the first of these sessions, How Technological Advances Are Altering Companies Engineering-Skill Set Needs, on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from Nov. 15 from 830 a.m. to 1000 a.m. in North Ballroom C and D. Jim Holland, vice president for vehicle component and system engineering at Ford maschine Co., will present the second Conference-Wide Plenary Session, Facing the Mobility Challenge, the following day from 830 a.m. to 1000 a.m. in North Ballroom C and D. The third session, to be held Nov. 17 from 1200 p.m. to 100 p.m. in North Ballroom C and D, will feature Ilan Gur, founding director of Cyclotron Road., a new public-pr ivate innovation platform for breakthrough energy technologies.One highlight of IMECE this year is sure to be the Invited Industry Presentations program, which will consist of talks from executives representing Westinghouse Electric Co., GE Healthcare and Raytheon Co. David Howell, senior vice president of Westinghouses Operating Plants Business, will give the programs first Invited Industry Presentation on Monday, Nov. 14 from 1030 a.m. to 1115 a.m. in Room 125A of the convention center. Jeff Geersten, transducer design manager at GE Healthcare, will deliver the second of the programs presentations the following day, from 115 p.m. to 200 p.m. in Room 125A of the convention center. The final Invited Industry Talk, to take place Nov. 16 at the same time and place, will feature Steven Unikewicz, senior licensing engineer at NuScale Power and member of the ASME Board on Nuclear Codes and Standards. This years Honors Assembly, to be held Sunday, Nov. 13 from 700 p.m. to 800 p.m. in North Ballroom C and D, will pay tribute to the career accomplishments of nine engineering innovators Cristina H. Amon, James J. Duderstadt, Ashwani K. Gupta, Bernard E. Hrubala, Evangelos T. Laskaris, Shiv G. Kapoor, J.N. Reddy, Helen Louise Reed and Lijie Grace Zhang.
