More Than 400 CEOs Have Pledged to Advance Diversity and Inclusion

More Than 400 CEOs Have Pledged to Advance Diversity and Inclusion This summer, more than 400 CEOs are coming together to leverage their individual and collective voices as part of the CEO Action for Diversity Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. The commitment is driven by a realization that addressing diversity and inclusion is not a competitive issue, but a societal issue, according to the initiatives site.We live in a world of complex tensions that can have significant impact on ur communities, the initiative reads. But when we come to work the place where we spend the majority of our time we often dont openly address these topics.By 2050, there will be no racial or ethnic majority in the country because traditionally under-represented groups will become the majority and research suggests that this diversity is healthy for workplaces has it induces creativity and innovation, promotes higher quality deci sions and enhances economic growth, according to the initiative.Thats why the participating leaders, many of whom oversee Fortune 500 companies, firms and nonprofits, have publicly declared that theyre going to collaborate to advancediversity and inclusionin their workplaces. The participants are pledging three things to make employees feel comfortable having complex and sometimes difficult conversations about diversity and inclusion to implement and improve unconscious bias education and training to help employees recognize and minimize potential blind spots and to openly share best and unsuccessful practices so other companies can follow suit. The CEOs also pledge to create accountability systems within their companies to track their own progress and to share regular updates with each other in buchen to catalog effective programs and measurement practices. They each believe that, by sharing with and learning from one another, theyve the ability to strengthen their existing program s to make their workplaces better for not only their employees, but also for society as a whole. Our goal is to rally the business community together to take measureable action in advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, the initiative reads. Companies recognize that signing the pledge is the first of many important steps toward meaningful change. Contributing to and learning from the database of diversity and inclusion actions is another. With businesses anchored in almost every community across America, we have the opportunity and responsibility to play a meaningful role in such an important societal issue. The pledge is co-led by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) U.S. Chairman Tim Ryan, which makes sense since PwC U.S. member network firm has ranked as the1 workplace for parents, continues to rank asone of the best companies for which to work, and has a history of publicly committing to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
